Sunday Snippets: Palestine

We love Ms. Rachel. And it fucking breaks my heart that Pink is on the wrong side of history. I have literally listened to her for decades but if you can't fucking denounce a goddamn genocide, out you fucking go.

Sunday Snippets: Fall

Less than four months till 2027 and we are sliding from summer to fall. Summer is my favorite season but with each summer getting hotter, it's hard to enjoy it as I once did.

Summerween, Augtober, and the Death of Summer

There’s a recurring theme rolling through social media, where the solution is to ‘disassociate from extreme heat…’

And in order to do that, you need to run-not-walk to target, marshalls, homegoods, and michaels to buy fall themed items.

So, we’re disassociating from extreme heat by enabling systems (consumerism and fossil fuels) that perpetuate EXTREME HEAT.

ICE Camps Are Not Untouchable. Here’s How Communities Can Push Back

People talked about this rural ranching dire need for medical services, and the medical service or hospital could also provide jobs, could also treat people that need medical services in the town. So trying to think about actually what the needs of a community are can only be answered at the local level, but just one example of there are desperate needs for things that are not extractive, that are not just a new national retailer coming in. National retailers, the Walmarts, the Dollar stores, they actually have a lot in common with immigration camps or prisons that they come in, they promise jobs. They promise bright new funds that are going to be spread out through your community, but they don’t actually work....We don’t need mass investment in better prisons. We need mass investment in our communities.

Sunday Snippets: Cleaning

Three times a year, I deep clean the house; flip the mattress, scrub behind the toilet, etc. Only this time, I get to do it fighting a cold and Satan's waterfall. Thank god there's scotch in the house.

#NatashaMcKenna

At the start of the encounter, a deputy says, “Natasha, we’re here to take you out,” and then McKenny utters her last words: “You promised me you wouldn’t kill me. I didn’t do anything,” McKenna says.

Fucking heartbreaking.

This moron

But that won’t do either, apparently. Her lawyers’ petition, which you can readhere, claims that Bunning’s expanding the injunction was inappropriate, and that he’s shown “extraordinary doggedness” in letting legally eligible people get married willy-nilly, without offering Davis “jurisdiction or fair notice and opportunity to be heard.” It also claims that her clerks were “coerced by the threat of contempt sanctions” into granting marriage licenses.
